Managing Your Money

I know I usually show clothes, shoes, and other fun things to buy, but it is important to make sure that you have the money to actually buy these things once in a while. I have to say I’m quite the saving novice and know next to nothing about retirement and savings. So in the interest of being a grown up I checked out a book from the library that I can’t recommend enough:

Women and Money by Suze Orman.

I think the book was written before the recession, but the reason I’m recommending it is still sound. It is great for learning the very basic, starting from scratch, I know nothing but want to start saving soon type info. There are no minimums that you need to utilize her investing strategies and despite my impression of her, the tone is very understanding and non-judgmental (even if you’re not quite early 20s anymore). It’s easy to read and since it’s been out for a while you should be able to get a copy at the library or online for cheap (click on the picture if you want to check out the Amazon listing).

What better way to ensure that I can shop and have pretty things well into my future than by making smart investment choices now? I sound like such a grown-up…
